Zomato – What it all really means!!

The brand:

It is an Indian restaurant aggregator and online food delivery business that was originally founded as ‘Foodiebay’, a start-up in 2008. Since then, Zomato has grown massively in size and scope to become one of the largest food aggregators globally. Currently, the brand has an established footprint in 10000 plus cities, across 24 countries.

The Idea:

The mission statement of Zomato is to covert the foodscape in India and elsewhere, forever for good. Zomato strives to promote a healthy lifestyle and also to provide that much needed connectivity between healthy food joints and individuals.

How it all began originally:

It all began when three passionate Delhiite foodies who particularly hated long queues, set out to create and render an online database of 1000s of restaurant menus from across Delhi, during 2008.

The Modus Operandi:

  • A hungry and eager foodie must first create his (or her) account with the web based Zomato portal or the smart phone app.
    •  Create your profile using email id and subsequent verification
    • Enter details like delivery address and mobile phone number that should be verified using a OTP.
  • He or she can then browse through the numerous deliverable food options from restaurants around the neighborhood.
  • The foodie can then select the food that best suits his (or her) appetite and place an online order for the same using one of the payment methods, viz. e-wallets, credit / debit cards, Netbanking, cash etc.
  • Now, the foodie can wait anticipatingly, with his taste buds primed, while the order is being delivered to his doorstep in a timely and professional manner.

Other attractive features:

Apart from online ordering facilities, Zomato also offers other attractive options like:

·         Go out for a meal: You can pre-book seats and dishes in fine restaurants and enjoy a classy dine-out experience with your loved ones.

·         Nightlife & Clubs: Zomato can help you remain up-to-date about the latest and happening trends when it comes to Nightlife and club related activities.

·         Zomato Gold: A premium membership option that provides benefits like flat discounts, free drinks etc.
